A Conference: Off to See the Wizard?
I’m sure I’m joining at least several dozen other people in posting about this conference, ambitiously titled “Blogging Goes Mainstream: Is Your Company Ready?” Seems to have a lot of blog glitterati (blogeratti?) on the speaker’s list. Or people that I assume are blogeratti; as neophytes, we’re just starting to get to know the big boys. People like Robert Scoble, Steve Rubel - no, not that Steve Rubell - this is a different kind of disco king. And, even more intriguingly to me and perhaps Nick, Stowe Boyd. I say “even more intriguingly” because Boyd’s folks actually picked up our press release yesterday and wrote a neat little blurb about it - which, of course, we also blogged about. So, tip #1 for the day: DO include mention of your blog in a press release. Reuters might ignore it, but Corante won’t. Even better, if they make a small slip in terms of reporting, and you write them and post a comment - THEY CORRECT IT RIGHT AWAY! Another shout out to the blog reporter (blogger? reblogger?) Dominic Basulto for a fast response.
Anyway, my point is, I am interested to see how all this plays out. I wonder if the folks from Blogspotting or the imposing David Kiley of Brand New Day will be there. If not, I wonder if that means anything? I don’t know if they’d be considered mainstream media, or bloggers, or both. Tip #2: there’s more than ever to watch on the internet in terms of marketing these days….so either stop sleeping or try and pick carefully what you do watch.
