To be honest, I hadn’t even noticed that IBM / Lotus had released a suite of desktop office-productivity applications. Then, when Business Week asked me to weigh in on whether or not these apps represented an innovation of any kind, I had a look. I was hard-pressed to find anything particularly innovative about this release — other than the fact that they are free, and they look a bit more Web 2.0′ey (there’s that phrase again!) than the usual suspects.
