Catalyst Group Design Launches New Brand Identity
User-Centered Design Consultancy Deploys New Website, Usability Testing Technology
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, MAY 2, 2005 - Catalyst Group Design, a leading user interface design and usability testing firm, today announced the launch of its newly redesigned brand as well as a new website (www.catalystgroupdesign.com) and an improved, all-digital usability testing system. As the firm approached its seventh anniversary creating and testing interfaces for both multinationals and start-ups, its Founders and CEO decided to build on eighteen months of particularly strong achievement by making a significant investment in the future.
"To have attracted the clientele we have - and the breadth of related projects - says a lot about the business value of a lean team of extremely experienced people," said Nick Gould, CEO of Catalyst. "As we keep growing our presence as a premier usability consultancy, it only made sense for our brand, site and technology to reflect our achievements."
Specifically, the new brand design reflects the firm's focus not only on innovative design and testing strategies, but also on a craftsman-style approach to each engagement. Every detail, no matter how small, deserves attention as a potential key to a better interface, and our designers and consultants, no matter how senior, are always deeply connected to these details.
In addition to a revitalized brand, Catalyst is celebrating several other milestones:
- A new website, with an expanded list of clients as well as a wider variety of features and functionality designed to better inform people's ability to learn about the company.
- A new blog, CoFactors. Acting as an R&D; and comment area for both Catalyst's industry and the web in general, CoFactors will allow clients and others to see and participate in parts of the firm's design and innovation process.
- A new, all-digital system for interface testing and analysis. Many of Catalyst's clients rely on the firm to provide validation for new and existing interfaces - and Catalyst has always sought to ensure that test results and footage from labs are as clear and useful as possible. Now, using cutting edge software, Catalyst has created a proprietary portable digital testing-lab. The new configuration and equipment means not only a clearer and more thorough data capture, but also faster video production and more options for actual real-time session viewing.
- An expanded set of services. In addition to maintaining its core focus on classic principles of user-centered design and testing, Catalyst has also expanded usability consulting into areas ranging from copywriting, to visual design, to marketing communications.
- A significant run of high-profile client success. 2004 and the first quarter of 2005 has seen the relaunch of three major Catalyst-designed public websites for large consumer internet companies. In addition, Catalyst's usability testing business has thrived as well, with the addition of ongoing testing for both Fortune 100 banking and aerospace companies (www.catalystgroupdesign.com/clients).
"We feel our longevity and achievement make it clear that, as our site says, 'experience counts,' perhaps now more than ever," said Co-Founder Jon Mysel. Echoed Peter Hughes, Catalyst's other founding partner, "Businesses and other organizations have higher expectations than ever. We're proud to be able to point to our ability to continue exceeding them."
