I was intrigued when I first read the New York Times article about online video editing websites like Jumpcut, Eyespot and Grouper. But, I became immediately intimidated and overwhelmed when I checked out the first one, Jumpcut. It’s definitely for the patient, creative and/or technically-inclined, unless you are familiar with video editing software, in which case you probably wouldn’t be using one these sites. I uploaded some short video clips from my digital camera, which was pretty time consuming, and went to town. Full Article »

Where did they find this guy? Kieren Vogel, a self-confessed loser who, at 35, still lives with his parents, has never earned more than $10,000 a year as a pet shop employee and has a screwed up dating life, has agreed to have his life video-taped 24/7 for six months and broadcast over the Internet on a site called OurPrisoner.com. This post is long overdue… but better late than never!
iVillage, a long-standing Catalyst client, has been acquired by NBC Universal for $600 Million in cash. It’s a fantastic opportunity for iVillage (and for NBC) — an end of sorts and a new beginning for a company that has struggled through Webs 1.0 and 2.0, booms and busts, only to emerge as one of the very few profitable and legitimate online content brands. We at Catalyst are extremely proud to have been a part of the iVillage story and we send our hearty congratulations to all our friends there.
