Catalyst Services
Our goal is to make your website or application as simple and useful as possible so that it performs measurably better. As a result, you benefit from a modular work process that adds value not only in terms of classic user-centered design, but also in terms of product development, customer relationships and even marketing. There are six basic service areas:
Removes uncertainty and avoids missteps in the development process by delivering a detailed website or application blueprint that meets visual, business and customer requirements. This service can include activities such as audience profiling, persona development, interaction strategy and information architecture.
One-on-one, lab-based testing saves time and money by anticipating user expectations and reactions before development is completed. Catalyst is an industry leader in this field and we maintain our own state-of-the-art testing lab where most of our research takes place.
Sometimes called "heuristics analysis," this process involves a review of a site or application by a team of our usability experts who identify and analyze usability bottlenecks and barriers that prevent customers from meeting their needs.
Competitive Analysis can involve head-to-head usability testing (i.e. real end users reacting to your competitors' products) or can be accomplished by means of a comparative expert review. Either way, this approach identifies industry best practices by comparing the effectiveness of functional elements (e.g. Registration, Product Browsing), branding or content across a set of competitors.
Overlays and completes architecture with graphic elements, colors and styles in order to instantiate brand and finalize functionality. Can include activities such as prototype development and identity design.
Knowing where your users actually look on the page -- what they see and even what they understand and absorb before deciding to click -- is an invaluable tool for making crucial decisions about the placement and design of business-critical links and functions. Catalyst is one of the few practitioners of this advanced usability methodology.
